Defending Sometimes Means Distance

Hi friends, I am not sure what to make of the fact that sometimes defending the faith means distance from the faith community. But this is, I supposed, what the prophets learned as well. There is a fine line between a heretic and a prophet, and I’m wanting to make it clear that I am not claiming to be a prophet in the traditional Hebrew sense. At the same time they were all really important exemplars of the faith.

Jesus, in addition to being the Savior and Son of God, was also an actor in the tradition of the Hebrew prophets. Christians follow Jesus and strive to exemplify his teachings, and in so doing we sometimes have to rebel against church just as Jesus rebelled against the Pharisees of his day.

About Christian Minus Christianity

“I do think it’s important to dismantle imperial Christianity in a form, and for the reign of God to liberate the oppressed and God’s entire creation from systems of supremacy, exploitation, and destruction. I also believe that every theologian and Christian are doing theology from their own context, wherever they are. All theologies are contextual.”
