Every morning in the occupied West Bank begins with uncertainty. Before checking the weather or making plans for the day, many of us check the news and our phones, wondering which Palestinian village has been attacked during the night, which roads have been closed, and which checkpoints have become impassable.
Life has become a constant exercise in adapting. A simple visit to family, going to work, attending church/mosque, or welcoming visitors can suddenly become impossible because a surprise military raid or of new movement restrictions. What once took minutes can now take hours, if it is possible at all. The shrinking of our freedom is not always announced with dramatic headlines. Often it happens quietly, one road, one village, one checkpoint at a time.
These restrictions are not merely an inconvenience. They are affecting every aspect of daily life, including access to healthcare. On July 26, 2026, two Palestinian women were forced to give birth inside vehicles after they were unable to reach hospitals because Israeli forces had closed the checkpoints surrounding Nablus. No mother should have to deliver her child at a checkpoint because a hospital is beyond a roadblock. Yet stories like these are becoming disturbingly common across the West Bank.
At the same time, settler violence has become a relentless reality. Families are attacked in their homes, olive groves and farms are burned, communities are terrorized, and people live each day wondering whether their village will be next. This is not simply a political conflict. It is the daily reality of ordinary people trying to live, work, raise children, and preserve hope.
Rev. Munther Isaac expresses this reality with heartbreaking clarity:
“Every day we wake up wondering which Palestinian village will be attacked next. We are exhausted. We live in fear and terror.”
His words remind us that behind every headline are human beings. We are not statistics. We are mothers and fathers, children and grandparents. We have names, stories, dreams, and futures that deserve dignity, safety, and protection.
Rev. Munther calls us to pray, not as a substitute for justice, but because we believe God hears the cries of the oppressed. He also calls us to act, to speak, to write, to advocate, and to refuse to look away.
I ask you to keep the people of the occupied West Bank in your prayers. But please do not stop there. Share our stories. Raise your voice. Encourage your churches, communities, and elected leaders to pay attention. Solidarity begins by refusing to become indifferent.
May we never accept fear as normal or injustice as inevitable. May we continue to believe that every human life bears the image of God and deserves to live in freedom, dignity, and peace.

Attacks by Israeli Settlers and Militias in the West Bank Over the Past 24 Hours
- Settlers released cattle among olive trees in the Wadi al-Naffakh area of al-Burj village, west of Dura, south of Hebron city.
- Settlers set fire to a truck in the industrial zone of Beita, amid an escalation of attacks, south of Nablus.
- Settlers raided the Abu Fazza’ herding community near al-Taybeh, east of Ramallah, and rampaged through the area.
- Settlers attacked Palestinian vehicles and forced them to turn back near Kafr Qaddum, east of Qalqilya in the upper West Bank.
- Settlers raided the Jabal al-Masriya area in Attil, north of Tulkarm, under Israeli military protection.
- Settlers seized the Basha family home in the Islamic Quarter of west Jerusalem’s Old City after an Israeli court issued an eviction order.
- Settlers established a new outpost on land in the Tel al-Asur area, east of Ramallah and al-Bireh.
- Settlers pitched a new tent to establish an outpost and rampaged through Umm Safa village, north of Ramallah.
- Settlers detained and beat a Palestinian man east of Idhna, west of Hebron.
- Settlers raided Khirbet Samra in the northern Jordan Valley.
- Settlers raided and vandalized land belonging to residents in the al-Jab’a area, west of Bethlehem.
- Settlers established four new outposts in a single day on land belonging to villages in the Salfit area.
- Settlers detained a Palestinian vehicle and assaulted its passengers near Sebastia, northwest of Nablus.
- Settlers detained a Palestinian vehicle carrying four women near al-Sawiya, south of Nablus, and hurled insults at them.
- Settlers attacked land in the Zeita Jama’in area and established a new outpost near residents’ homes.
